Makokha Mark Kitts
I design and build reliable backend systems, distributed data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure that scale from prototype to production.
Background
I am a software and data engineer with 7 years of experience building production systems. My work spans distributed backends, streaming and batch data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and geospatial platforms.
I started in IT operations at an investment bank, where I learned the value of automation and reliability. I moved to web development, where I led a monolith-to-microservices migration on AWS. Then to building distributed systems for financial software, where I architected event-driven notification systems and multi-gateway payment integrations. Most recently, I consulted on spatial data pipelines, synchronizing real-time data across three enterprise GIS platforms.
I am based in Nairobi, Kenya, and I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Analytics online at USIU. I also hold a degree in Informatics from Strathmore University and an Associate Degree in Software Engineering from Holberton School.
What I Do
